DanceWest has been invited to curate an evening of emerging choreographers in partnership with IYAF and Creative Youth. Taking place on Thursday 11th July at the Arthur Cotterell Theatre the evening will feature work by Ella & Company, Caitlin Barnett, Shaun Dillon and Yanaelle Thiran. Tickets are available here

Our Bolder not Older Dance Company were selected to participate in Elixir at Sadler’s Wells a platform celebrating lifelong creativity. Performing alongside companies from across the UK our Bolder not Older Dancer’s performed a new work created for the platform by Danielle Teale. We hold two company classes a week more information here

On Saturday 8th June we produced a Inclusive Disco as part of Joy Festival in partnership with Turtle Key Arts and Hammersmith & Fulham Arts Festival. Opening the disco were young people from our Move it Mondays programme - an inclusive dance group for young people aged 8-26 years. Thanks to support from the National Lottery DanceWest will be producing the next inclusive Disco in December. More new to follow!

DanceWest’s programmes are delivered by a team of experienced dance teachers and assistants supported by a small back office team.
Our programmes are designed to bring positive change in our communities, improving health and wellbeing and providing high-quality, safe, and enjoyable dance activity. People working with us feel part of something amazing and are motivated to make a difference. Our office environment is friendly, inclusive and hardworking!

We are delighted to announce a brand new programme, initiated by Danielle Teale the Dancing with Parkinson’s programme brings a high quality dance opportunities for people with Parkinson’s, their loved ones, companions, friends and carers in a supportive and sociable environment. Taking place at the Tabernacle the new programme begins this May to July with a series of taster classes! More here.

DanceWest’s Bolder not Older programme is growing! Three new drop-in dance classes for older adults start this month in Brent and Westminster. They join our existing classes in Hammersmith and north Kensington. Our youngest Bolder not Older participant is 65, and our oldest is 98. To find out more about Bolder not Older click here

Bolder not Older Company is performing at Sadlers Wells! Our dancers will take part in Elixir Extracts Festival on Sunday 16 June. Elixir Extracts celebrates lifelong creativity with a platform dedicated to older artists, including a performance by Sadlers Wells Company of Elders. DanceWest are delighted to announce that Dancing Books returns to West London! Our much loved community programme supported by Arts Council England and Give A book offers families access to dance classes that support and develop literacy, language and story telling. We are looking for volunteers to support us on our programme at Lyric Hammersmith. The role would suit a dance student or recent graduate looking to build their career as a dance teacher, with passion for making dance accessible for all.

We produced our first ever half term programme at Lyric Hammersmith this February. Young people got to experience three dance styles a day, delivered by an exciting roster of DanceWest teachers. The young people presented their experience on the final day to family and friends!

Crossing continents and generations with live flamenco from Strictly’s Sam Quy, swinging jazz led by Vera Lynn’s pianist Jack Honeyborne, dance-theatre from Sadlers Well’s duo Thick and Tight, performances from Company of Elders, DanceWest’s Youth Co and Bolder Not Older Dance Company. You and a friend can attend any DanceWest class together for the price of one. The offer applies to our new adult programme and Bush Theatre and Children’s and Young People Classes at Lyric Hammersmith. All classes are listed here.
*Friend must be unregistered prior to attending. Offer can be user only once per participant and the friends have to attend the same class on the same day as DanceWest participants.

Bolder not Older Dance Company was launched by DanceWest in March 2018, to provide adults aged 55+ an opportunity to perform, create choreography and take part in a weekly class. The company celebrates the artistic integrity of older dancers, and challenges preconceptions of what it means to be older. We are delighted to announce we have appointed Danielle Teale as the Rehearsal Director! Danielle joins us from January!

Produced by DanceWest - A Tea Dance With a Twist will be a spectacular intergenerational event for 300 people on Saturday 16 March. Taking place at Hammersmith Town Hall, the programme will include a live jazz band led by keyboard legend Jack Honeyborne, dance performances from Thick and Tight, Company of Elders and our very own Bolder Not Older Company. It promises to be a fabulous afternoon of music, dancing and cake! We are looking for volunteers to assist on the day with the smooth running of the event. Young people from our Contemporary Dance Class programme at Lyric Hammersmith shared to a large audience of friends and family this Thursday! The young people shared warm up phrases, performed choreography and creative tasks! We can not wait for next term!

Move it Mondays is an inclusive dance programme for young people with and without disabilities to dance together. We offer three, free classes a week two in Hammersmith in partnership with Action on Disability and one class in Westminster in partnership with Caxton Youth Centre.
On Monday 3rd December, we presented performances from all three Move it Mondays groups and a guest performance from the DanceWest Youth Co. We were so proud of the young people that performed!
