Meet our Community Programme Coordinator!

We are delighted to be able to introduce our brand new Community Programme Coordinator. Gurdeep studied Economics and Philosophy at the London School of Economics, before pursuing her career in community development work. She has a background in project and event management, with a particular interest in bringing different artists and collaborators together to co-create innovate projects with a social impact. Gurdeep also has extensive experience in the voluntary sector, leading and supporting multiple youth based initiatives which aim to equalise educational and life opportunities.

Open Doors - Tri-borough Virtual School Programme

We launched a brand new programme in partnership with the Tri-Borough Virtual Schools and Lyric Hammersmith supporting Key Workers and Foster carers to access our classes. The programme continues with two further events this term - watch this space!

Contemporary dance class sharing!

On Thursday 7 December, children & young people from our contemporary dance class programme shared their work to family and friends.  The evening gave the families a chance to see an open class and watch choreography we had been developing over a term.

Move-it Monday Sharing event

Monday 4 December 2017 

Over 40 young people aged 11-26 took part in our dance sharing. Move-it Mondays is an inclusive dance programme for young people produced by DanceWest and delivered in partnership with Action on Disability and Caxton Youth Centre. The young people take part in a dance class every Monday at the Lyric Hammersmith and Caxton Youth Centre in Westminster. On Monday young people from both groups shared their work as well as two guest performances from the DanceWest Youth Company and Corali Dance Company.

Our Youth Dance Co have just completed a collaboration with former Rambert Dancer and Independent Choreographer Kirill Burlov as a choreographic mentor on their latest work. Supported by The Print Room at the Coronet and Arts Council England.

Dance teachers recruitment day!

Over thirty teachers took part in a recruitment day on Saturday 18 November. DanceWest has a pool of dance teachers who deliver our programmes on contract to contract basis. 'There was a huge amount of talent and energy in the room, it was a very inspiring day'. Rosie Whitney-Fish DanceWest. 

A Tea Dance with a Twist

The Print Room at the Coronet & DanceWest

DanceWest & The Print Room are collaborating on Waves - a tripe bill featuring Gisele Edwards, Dickson Mbi and Kirill Burlov. 

Print Room at the Coronet is delighted to be working in partnership with DanceWest, helping to bring the local west London community into our theatre for the 2017 Coronet International Festival.

DanceWest programme - Dancing Books was featured on Arts Council England blog! 

Joyce Wilson, London Area Director, Arts Council England, said: “Libraries have always been places of discovery. Dancing Books is a great example of how the arts and culture sector can work with libraries to help more people have fantastic cultural experiences. It enriches families, brings communities together and introduces young children to the joy of movement and the love of libraries.”

Hammersmith & Fulham Health Fair

Dancing Books Kensington & Chelsea & Westminster

Friday 22 September 2017 

On Monday 25 September, Dancing Books will be delivered across six Libraries in Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster. The project offers free dance classes in Libraries for pre-school children and their families. Children's books are nominated and then used as the inspiration for the classes. Dancing Books encourages the development of literacy skills and inspires storytelling. New classes on Saturdays at Lyric Hammersmith!

We are delighted to announce that every Saturday, we will be offering not one but two classes! Join us at 9.15 for our under 5's creative dance session, supported by parent/ carer the session is 'a great way to bond with your child' (Parents feedback) or sign up for our brand new creative  class for children aged 4-7 years. Youth Dance Company for West London

Friday 22 September 

On Monday 25 September, DanceWest launch a brand new Dance Company for young people aged 11-16 years from West London. Led by inspiring choreographer Brian Gillespie, the young people will work towards creating choreography for national dance opportunities. 

World Alzheimer's Day

Thursday 21 September 

On Thursday 21st September, DanceWest delivered free dance classes to celebrate World Alzheimers Day. Taking place in Sheltered accommodation supported by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.
