Our film documenting our Bolder not Older group was nominated in the first Hammersmith Community film festival! Produced by Hammersmith United Charities the festival showcased the organisations working to support the community to make change!

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded funding from The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. From October 2016 we will be delivering Bolder not Older, a programme of classes for adults 70+ in North Kensington. More news to follow!

DanceWest delivered a Summer School in partnership with Action on Disability. Led by dance artist Anita Wadsworth we built towards a sharing for family and friends.

In December 2015 DanceWest were awarded funding to deliver a programme of classes for older adults 70+. Since then DanceWest have delivered 25 free dance classes at Sycamore House, Hammersmith. The classes have been very popular from adults in the sheltered accommodation and from local residents.
On Wednesday 27 July, the adults shared their work to friends and family and celebrated the end of term wth a tea party. The classes will resume in September, with support from Hammersmith United Charities and Open Age.

The DanceWest young dancers performed as part of Lyric in the Square a festival produced by the Lyric and partners – we are very proud of their performance.

As part of the Big Dance programme, DanceWest hosted two screenings of Mr Gaga a film about Ohad Naharin one of the most prominent and innovative choreographers in the world. We also arranged a live Q&A session with the Director Tomer Heymann. The screenings were so popular we hope to produce an event in September – stay tuned for more details.

Hosted by Hakeem Onibudo Ignition Dance Festival Community Platform took place on Sunday 3 July at Rose Theatre Kingston. Community groups, schools and colleges from across West London showcased exciting and diverse work at two performances – over 475 people took part in our community showcase this year!

DanceWest produced Ignition Dance Festival: Choreographers Platform. Selected from a national competition, six of the UK’s finest choreographers Salah El Brogy, Cindy Claes, Jane Coulston, Sally Marie, Estela Merlos and Thomasin Gulgec, premiered new work under the theme Dis-order. Over 650 people attended the performance on Saturday 2 July at Rose Theatre Kingston.

We created a short film about our inclusive dance group co delivered with Action on Disability for young people aged 11-25!
