Join us on Saturday 16 March for a Tea Dance with a Twist for a jubilant and joyous afternoon of live music and dance. Crossing continents and generations with live flamenco from Strictly’s Sam Quy, swinging jazz led by Vera Lynn’s pianist Jack Honeyborne, dance-theatre from Sadlers Well’s duo Thick and Tight, performances from Company of Elders, DanceWest’s Youth Co and Bolder Not Older Dance Company. ‘Bring a friend for FREE’ to any of our classes this February 2019.

You and a friend can attend any DanceWest class together for the price of one. The offer applies to our new adult programme and Bush Theatre and Children’s and Young People Classes at Lyric Hammersmith. All classes are listed here.

*Friend must be unregistered prior to attending. Offer can be user only once per participant and the friends have to attend the same class on the same day as DanceWest participants.

Bolder not Older Dance Company was launched by DanceWest in March 2018, to provide adults aged 55+ an opportunity to perform, create choreography and take part in a weekly class. The company celebrates the artistic integrity of older dancers, and challenges preconceptions of what it means to be older. We are delighted to announce we have appointed Danielle Teale as the Rehearsal Director! Danielle joins us from January!

Produced by DanceWest - A Tea Dance With a Twist will be a spectacular intergenerational event for 300 people on Saturday 16 March. Taking place at Hammersmith Town Hall, the programme will include a live jazz band led by keyboard legend Jack Honeyborne, dance performances from Thick and Tight, Company of Elders and our very own Bolder Not Older Company. It promises to be a fabulous afternoon of music, dancing and cake! We are looking for volunteers to assist on the day with the smooth running of the event. Move it Mondays Sharing!

Move it Mondays is an inclusive dance programme for young people with and without disabilities to dance together. We offer three, free classes a week two in Hammersmith in partnership with Action on Disability and one class in Westminster in partnership with Caxton Youth Centre.

On Monday 3rd December, we presented performances from all three Move it Mondays groups and a guest performance from the DanceWest Youth Co. We were so proud of the young people that performed!



Bolder not Older - Rehearsal Director

Bolder not Older Company is a dance company for West Londoners aged 55+, founded by DanceWest. Company rehearsals take place weekly, at The Bush Theatre, and DanceWest commissions high profile artists to create new work for the company. In 2019 the company will expand and work towards two high profile performance opportunities in spring and summer.

 DanceWest is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic rehearsal director to lead weekly company class and produce a new piece of choreography for a large scale Tea Dance event on Saturday 16 March 2019. More here

Mum's Movement Pilot!

We are delighted to announce a brand new programme. Combining dance, ballet and post-natal pilates, Mum’s Movement is for mothers and their babies (up to one-year old) during the postpartum recovery period. Supporting your body through rehabilitation and giving a safe workout, Mum’s Movement classes give mothers the opportunity and freedom to exercise in a baby-friendly environment.

Mums movement is a programme developed by DanceWest, West London Community Dance Organisation and Dance Artist Gemma Parrott, a dancer & mother who after the birth of her daughter couldn't find a class like this. See our Community Projects page for more details!

Bolder not Older Dance Company - Open Class announced!

Bolder not Older is a contemporary dance company for West Londoners aged 55+, founded by DanceWest. The company meets every Friday morning and works towards high profile performances. We are recruiting for new members to join the company and participate in a performance at DanceWest's 'Tea Dance With a Twist' on Saturday 16 March. You don't need previous dance experience, but passion and enthusiasm are required.

DanceWest - Summer School

We can’t wait to kick off our DanceWest Summer School next week! This is an exciting opportunity for 7-15 year olds to develop new skills in a huge range of dance MasterClasses delivered by industry professionals. Young people will participate in everything from Flamenco to Physical Theatre - learning original choreography and then sharing at the end of the week. The DanceWest Summer School takes place from the 23-27 July at Lyric Hammersmith. 

Bolder not Older Company - First Performance

Friday 6 July 2018 

The Bolder not Older Dance Company were commissioned to create a new work to celebrate 400 years of Hammersmith United Charities. 

The Bolder not Older Dance Company is for adults 55+ in Hammersmith & Fulham, giving access to performance and choreographic opportunities. Under the direction of Sonia Illescas the company rehearse once a week. 

An audience of 250 attended the event at St Pauls Church and the performance included choreography from a weekend intensive spent with Robert Cohan MBE. Read more, or apply to take part in the company here
