DanceWest’s programmes are delivered by a team of experienced dance teachers and teaching assistants supported by a small back office team. Our programmes are designed to bring positive change in our communities, improving health and wellbeing, and providing high-quality, safe, and enjoyable dance activity in different settings – dance studios, youth and community centres, care homes and local libraries.
People working with us feel part of something amazing and are motivated to make a difference. Our office environment is friendly, inclusive and hardworking! Community Programme Coordinator
DanceWest is seeking an enthusiastic and committed coordinator to support the delivery of our programmes for West London communities. Supported by the WestWay Trust this entry-level post is open to people aged 21-30 years living or working in Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster or Brent.
Salary: Freelance rate of £120 per day
Hours of work: Based on two days per week.
Length of contract: January to April 2018/ April to July 2018
Office base: DanceWest, Lyric Hammersmith, King Street W6 0QL. The role will require some travel to other sites and venues throughout West London.
Responsible to: Artistic Director
Key Relationships (External): Public, arts organisations, companies, funders, participants, technicians and collaborators.
Purpose of the post : To coordinate and support the delivery of community dance programmes in West London.

Lead Teachers and Teaching Assistants (Monday 30 October 2017)
DanceWest is the community organisation for West London engaging people of all ages and abilities in high quality dance activity.
Based at the Lyric Hammersmith we are a nonprofit organisation founded in 2014 by Choreographer & Producer Rosie Whitney-Fish.
We are looking for experienced teachers and enthusiastic teaching assistants to join our team of teachers in January 2018. Our teaching team deliver our extensive community programme in a variety of settings across West London on a part-time, freelance basis.
Lead Dance Teachers
We are looking for lead teachers with a minimum of ten-years community dance teaching experience. We are interested in hearing from teachers that come from a variety of styles and backgrounds but have experience of teaching dance in the community to different participants including one or more of the following audiences:
· Pre-school children and families
· Children and young people in schools and education settings 4-18 years
· Older adults 65+ in care homes, sheltered accommodation and community centers.
· Harder to reach young people 11+
· Professional Development training for Children and Young People
· Adult classes
· CPD delivery for teachers
Assistant Dance Teachers
We are also looking for dance professionals at early stages of their dance teaching to join our team as assistant dance teachers. The assistant may have recently completed professional training or looking to build their career as a dance teacher. The assistant dance teacher should be enthusiastic and passionate about making dance accessible to all.

Project Assistant - Children and young people (1 day per week 10.00-16.30)
Supporting DanceWest extensive programme for Children and Young People in Secondary, Primary Schools, Youth Clubs and programme at Lyric Hammersmith with delivery (assistant) and project coordination.
Project Assistant - Health and Wellbeing (1 day per week 10.00-16.30)
Supporting DanceWest Health and Wellbeing programme for older adults 65+ in care homes, sheltered accommodation and Nursing Centres in West London with delivery (assistant) and project coordination.
Development Assistant - (Flexible 2 half days/ ten hours per week)
Supporting DanceWest Development Manager with fundraising activities.

Hosted by Dramaturg and esteemed dance critic Donald Hutera, the work in progress event is a chance to find out more about the choreographers process, listen to the choreographers and see the work in development - up close and personal!

Audition Notice - Henri Oguike (Deadline 17 May)
Henri Oguike is inviting dancers to apply to audition for the creation of a new work for Ignition Dance Festival produced by DanceWest. Henri will create a group piece that will delve deeply into the rhythmic and dynamic possibilities linking choreography to music. Producing delicate nuances of the body as a natural generator of 'narratives' in the work. Oguike has the most eclectic and inquisitive musicality of any choreographer I can think of in the UK. Henri has created many works internationally over the last 15 years. His mission is to push the boundaries of dance and to discover fresh ways of engaging people in unique and beautifully crafted experiences.
Audition: 11.00-17.00 Friday 19 May.
Rehearsals: Dates to be confirmed but rehearsals will take place in London
Performance: Friday 16 June and Wednesday 28 June 2017. It is anticipated that future touring will then take place in 2018.

Class Assistant - Under 5's and 5-9 year olds
Are you looking to expand your teaching experience and work in a creative environment? DanceWest is seeking an enthusiastic and committed assistant to support our teachers on Saturday mornings (term time) from 9.00-11.00am at Lyric Hammersmith. If you are looking to develop your dance teaching skills, work alongside a team of experienced dance teachers and choreographers - then please get in touch.

Events Assistant - Ignition Dance Festival
Now in its fourth year, Ignition Dance Festival returns in June 2017 as an expanded dance festival for the whole of West London, with professional choreographic and community dance showcases scheduled to take place at the Rose Theatre, Kingston and the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith. The festival is commissioned by the Royal Borough of Kingston and supported by Arts Council England. DanceWest is seeking enthusiastic and committed volunteers to support Ignition Dance Festival 2017. This role is essential to the smooth delivery of Ignition Dance Festival Choreographer’s Platform & Community Platform. You will be supported by the DanceWest team who will brief you and assign you to specific roles and areas for the days.
· Saturday 3 June – Lyric, Hammersmith (9am to 6pm)
· Friday 16 June – Rose Theatre, Kingston (10am to 5pm)
· Saturday 17 June – Rose Theatre, Kingston (8am to 5pm)
· Must be 18 or over
· DBS is preferable not imperative
· Would be needed for all the dates mentioned above
· This is an unpaid position

DanceWest & Russell Maliphant Workshop - Sunday 26 March 2017
DanceWest is delighted to announce a new partnership with Russell Maliphant and Company and Print Room at the Coronet. Internationally acclaimed choreographer Russell Maliphant has today announced the programme for maliphantworks featuring world-renowned collaborators and works spanning his hugely celebrated 25-year career. DanceWest will deliver a community outreach programme which includes opportunities for Schools and a programme for students and recent graduates.
To mark this special event, the Print Room, Russell Maliphant Company, and DanceWest are pleased to announce this unique opportunity to work with company dancer and renowned hip hop artist Dickson Mbi. This one day workshop on Sunday 26 March, at DanceWest’s home the Lyric Hammersmith, will include class and creative tasks led by Dickson, inspired by his own approach to the material in maliphantworks. Places are limited to 25 people only, ensuring the best experience for all participants. The workshop is for this aged 18 + and in full time vocational training, recent graduates, or early career professional dancers.
Bursaries - Emerging Choreographers & Emerging Companies (Friday 17 April 2017)
Ignition Dance Festival is looking to commission two emerging dance companies to create an opening ceremony and finale for the Community Dance Platform. Our professionally produced Community Dance platform will be hosted with a compere and include work by community groups from across West London.
Ignition will award £500 to two companies to create the work. One piece would be performed at the Community Dance Showcase on Saturday 3 June Lyric, Hammersmith and one piece selected for the Community Dance Showcase on Saturday 17 June at Rose Theatre Kingston.
The bursary would appeal to emerging choreographers and dance companies that are looking are looking to respond to a brief, build performance history and gain experience of creating work for a festival. The performance should be upbeat, fun, aspirational and performed by three or more dancers.

Ignition Dance Festival 2017 - Choreographers platform (CLOSED)
The festival is able to offer seven commissions, the opportunity to work across two venues and a supportive professional development package ensuring choreographers are supported throughout their creative journey. We are seeking applications from mid-career artists to create new works across seven scaled commissions:
- A solo £1,200
- A duet £1,500
- A second duet £1,500
- A trio £1,800
- A second trio £1,800
- A quartet £2,000
- A group performance (6 dancers or more) £3,000
The commissioned choreographers will also get access to a supportive professional development package which includes:
- Studio Space at Kingston University
- Photography & Film – DanceWest will produce a trailer and interviews.
- Technician and Lighting Designer – Access to technicians for the final performance.
- A producer and support with coordination – The DanceWest team will produce the events.
Ignition Dance Festival 2017 - Community Dance Platform (CLOSED)
Calling all community dancers! Do you want to perform on stage at the Rose Theatre Kingston or the Lyric, Hammersmith? Now in its fourth year, Ignition is west London’s only Dance Festival.
Dance groups of all ages, abilities and styles are welcome, we want to showcase the talent, and diversity that west London has to offer. Each group will be given access to a technical rehearsal, a professionally produced event with top class MC Hakeem Onibudo and the opportunity to invite family and friends to a ticketed performance.
We are delighted to be able to offer community dance groups the chance to perform at either Lyric, Hammersmith on Saturday 3 June or Rose Theatre Kingston on Saturday 17 June.
