Volunteer - Dance Teacher Assistants needed 

We are seeking dance students or recent graduates that are looking to develop their career in teaching. This is a voluntary role for a minimum of five weeks, supporting on either a Thursday, Saturday or both at our popular programme at the Lyric Hammersmith. Work alongside the UK’s finest community dance teachers, build confidence, connections and develop your skills. 

Hours: Thursdays Contemporary Dance Classes 16:00-19:30 & Saturdays Creative Family Dance 10:00-12:00

Length of contract: A minimum of 5 weeks.

Duties: 

  • To welcome the young people and support with class registration 

  • To support the lead teacher in facilitating the class 

  • To be willing to demonstrate in class.

  • To encourage, nurture and support the young people.

Freelance Primary Dance Teachers needed (Closed)

Contract: September - December 2019 & January-March 2020

Location: Primary Schools across West London.

Rates of pay: £10-£15K pro rata/ typically £35-£55 per hour.

Hours of work: Dance Classes are one hour long, teachers are asked to arrive 15 minutes early and stay to close the session for 10 minutes.

We are expanding our pool of freelance dance teachers to support our programmes in West London Primary Schools. We are interested to hear from teachers who specialise in teaching different dance styles but have at least three-years teaching experience with Primary School aged children and experience of working in the curriculum and after school hours. This is a freelance position, DanceWest will provide a contract for all teachers.

Volunteer Dance Teacher Assistant (CLOSED)

Contract: April-July 2019, September - December 2019 & January-March 2020

Location: Lyric Hammersmith, W60QL

Hours of work: 16.00-19.30

We are looking for volunteers to support us in our classes at Lyric Hammersmith. The role would suit a dance student or recent graduate looking to build their career as a dance teacher, with passion for making dance accessible for all. Rehearsal Director, Bolder not Older Company  (CLOSED)

Bolder not Older Company is a dance company for West Londoners aged 55+, founded by DanceWest. Company rehearsals take place weekly, at The Bush Theatre, and DanceWest commissions high profile artists to create new work for the company. In 2019 the company will expand and work towards two high profile performance opportunities in spring and summer. DanceWest is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic rehearsal director to lead weekly company class and produce a new piece of choreography for a large scale Tea Dance event on Saturday 16 March 2019. The rehearsal director should have a minimum of five years teaching experience working with similar groups and leading dance in the community. The rehearsal director will need to be committed, reliable and deliver two terms, until July 2019. The role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver weekly classes and create choreography for the company, and also work to support high-profile guest choreographers.

Hours: 2 hours per week (Monday 1.30-2.30 & Tuesday 6.30-7.30pm).

Length of contract: Two ten-week terms, from Jan 2019 to July 2019.

Rates of Pay: £1,100 per term x 2 terms = £2,200 inclusive of planning.

Lead Dance Teachers - Bolder not Older (CLOSED)

DanceWest is seeking experienced teachers for Bolder not Older programme our programme for adults 65+ in community centers and sheltered housing across West London. We are interested in hearing from teachers that come from a variety of different styles but who have at least five-years teaching experience with vulnerable adults.

Hours: Dance Classes are one hour long, teachers are asked to arrive 15 minutes early and stay to close the session for 15 minutes. All classes take place in the morning.

Length of contract: January – July 2019

Rates of pay: £55 per session/ £550 per term.

Location: Community centers, sheltered accommodation and care homes across West London

Family Dance Classes - Assistant Needed! (CLOSED)

Our teaching team deliver an extensive programme in a variety of settings across West London on a part-time, freelance basis. We are looking for teachers at the start of their teaching practice to join our team as assistants on our programme at Lyric Hammersmith. The roles would suit a recent graduate or a dance professional looking to build their career as a dance teacher, with passion for making dance accessible for all.

Hours: Saturday mornings 09.15- 10.00 & 10.15-11.00

Length of contract: January – July 2019

Rates of pay: £10.55 per hour x 2 hours = £21.10 per Saturday/ £211.00 per term.
