Ignition Elevate Bursary Short list 2018
DanceWest received 70 applications for the Elevate bursaries, £500 commissions to support emerging choreographers with a brief of 'creating an accessible, aspirational performance' for the opening or closing performance for Ignition Community Dance Platform. We are delighted to share emerging choreographers who have made the 2018 shortlist they are:

Counterpoint Dance Company - Opening
Challenging the sedate image of older people and their abilities! Using dance we create a vibrant new image of the older person by developing, sharing, promoting and performing the creative ideas of over 55s - led by Simona Scotto.
Tomorrow's Men & Jeanefer Jean Charles - Closing
Tomorrow's Men is a groundbreaking dance organisation. Established by Jeanefer Jean-Charles it aims to encourage the engagement of boys and young men in society, at every level. The intention is to support young men build better relationships.

Caitlin Barnett Company - Opening
Caitlin trained at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts graduating with a BA (Hons) in Dance in 2010. Caitlin has gone on to perform with contemporary company Rhiannon Faith Dancing Theatre as well as Secret Cinema. Television credits include Honda’s HR-V Stepping commercial, The Nation’s Greatest Dance Moments,ITV’s Magic Numbers and BBC’s The Rules of Love.
Charlie Brittain & English National Ballet Seniors - Closing
Charlie is currently studying on the 'Artist in Process' professional training programme at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (AT). Charlie graduated with distinction from the Professional Dance Course at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts (UK), having commenced his formal training on The Place CAT scheme and been a founding member of the English National Ballet Youth Company.
Ignition Community Dance Platform 2018
Over 250 community groups applied to take part in the community dance platform! A panel, read through the applications selected the following groups to participate. There are four platforms delivered during the festival two at the Lyric Hammersmith - Sunday 13 May and two at the Rose Theatre Kingston Saturday 16 June. Ignition Dance Festival Community Platform - features the brightest and best dance talent, this high octane event is sure to get everyone moving!

Applications now closed - Ignition Community Dance Platform 2018
Ignition Dance Festival is seeking Community dance groups to take part in this year’s festival at Lyric Hammersmith and Rose Theatre Kingston.
Produced by DanceWest the festival showcases the diversity and talent of Community Dance in West London. We are seeking an array of dance groups regardless of age, ability and style to take part! Thanks to support from Arts Council England, Royal Borough of Kingston and London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham we are able to offer four community dance platforms!
Take part on
- Sunday 13 May 2018 - Lyric Hammersmith – 13.00 or 17.00
- Saturday 16 June 2018 - Rose Theatre Kingston 13.00 or 17.00
Who can apply?
Community Dance groups - For example, schools, youth dance & older adults’ groups.
All ages welcome - Previous participants have been aged 6-86 years old!
Group size - Minimum of 5 dancers and a maximum of 30.
All style & genre of dance - We welcome all dance styles.
Open to - Groups from across London, priority will be given to West, North-West, South-West and outer London boroughs.
● Each group will get a chance to perform on stage at the Lyric Hammersmith or Rose Theatre Kingston
● The events will be professionally produced by the team at DanceWest
● Access to a technical rehearsal
● Flyers and posters to promote the event
● The opportunity to invite family and friends to a ticketed performance
● A film of your group’s performance.

● On the form select a preferred venue Lyric Hammersmith or Rose Theatre.
● Return form as soon as possible - deadline Friday 30 March 2018.
● Dance groups will be notified if they have been selected by Friday 6 April 2018.
● Each selected group will be asked to donate £30.00 towards the cost of delivering the festival paid by Cheque to DanceWest.

Ignition Dance Festival – is seeking applications from emerging choreographers & dance companies to create an opening or closing performance for the community dance platforms at the Lyric Hammersmith or Rose Theatre Kingston. Thanks to support from Arts Council England, Royal Borough of Kingston and London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham we are able to offer four commissions of £500.
The commission would appeal to emerging choreographers and dance companies that are looking are looking for their first or early commission, building performance history and gaining valuable experience. The work created should be accessible, aspirational, fun and performed by four or more dancers.

Bursary: DanceWest will award £500 to four recipients. Two to create work for the Lyric Hammersmith and two for the Rose Theatre Kingston.
