Ignition - Community Dance Platform 2017

Ignition Dance Festival has finished and will be back in 2018! Over 1,200 dancers aged 6-86 from across London participated in our Community Dance Platform, presenting work from a Bollywood, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Tap, Tango and Ballet background.

After an overwhelming 80 applications to take part in our Community Dance Platform over we are pleased to announce the line-up for the platform. Hosted by MC Hakeem Onibudo Ignition's highly entertaining community dance showcase will take place across two venues in 2017 - Lyric Hammersmith & Rose Theatre Kingston. Ignition Community Dance Platform features the brightest dance talent, this high octane event is sure to get everyone moving!

After a competitive call out, we are delighted to announce the following emerging artists have been awarded £500 to create a opening or closing performance for the community dance platform. 

Saturday 17 June, Rose Theatre Kingston

Ania Straczynska: Born in Poland, Ania graduated from the Academy of Music with a Choreography and Dance Techniques degree. She is a Artistic Member and Marketing and Education Assistant at Chisenhale Dance Space. Her works have been presented in the UK, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia. Ania works using contemporary dance language combined with dance theatre where often musicality is a core.  Agenda Festival, Resolution 2017, East London Dance - The Field. 

Francesca Wall: Now entering the third year of a dance degree at Kingston University, Frankie has a passion for morphing styles, often creating unexpected dance forms within her work. Her cross genre allows dancers an opportunity to comfortably perform within the piece whilst maintaining her signature style.

Thomas Page Dances: A contemporary collective of emerging artists based in London and Oxford. Continuing to grow and develop the company is focused on creating a range of thought provoking and highly physical works. Page seeks to work in an extremely collaborative way constantly building bridges and connections with other contemporary artists. 

What is Written Dance Company: Founded in 2014 by Artistic Directors and co-choreographers Jean Pierre Nyamangunda & Viviana Rocha. Formed as a platform to bring different artists together. The company embodies diversity by fusing contemporary principles with an urban flair. Resolution 2015 - 2017, BJCEM (Milan, Italy), Spacer (Krakow, Poland), FRAME Film Festival and Collabo, East London Dance.
